NIMH BATTERIES

Nickel-metal hydride batteries are still the right solution for some industrial applications, despite the lower energy density compared to Li-Ion batteries.

Arguments for NiMh-cells:

  • No approval required for UN38.3 packs
  • Simple construction, very safe
  • No combustible electrolyte (in contrast to Li-Ion batteries)
  • Very good in use at high temperatures (discharge up to 75°C)
  • Charging possible at minus temperatures (advantage over Li-Ion)
  • Wide temperature range -20°C to 75°C

A distinction is made between high-temperature cells, high-current cells and cells with low self-discharge. In addition to the NiMh types from Panasonic listed below, OMNITRON also offers cells from other manufacturers at good prices.
